How New Urban Influence rebuilt April Anderson's bakery brand from the ground up — from a brown-and-pink startup across the street to a Dan Gilbert Award winner featured on Food Network and the Oprah Winfrey Network.
"NUI transformed our small bakery into a recognized Detroit brand. Our online orders tripled within 3 months!"
When April Anderson first opened Good Cakes and Bakes on Detroit's Avenue of Fashion (Livernois Ave), her bakery had a brown and pink color scheme. We were located right across the street from her and could see the potential immediately. We told April she definitely needed to update her branding, and we gave her business books to read — The E-Myth Revisited, Who Moved My Cheese, and The Richest Man in Babylon — to help her think bigger about her business. Over time, she started trusting our judgment, and we built a relationship that turned into a complete brand transformation.
We rebuilt April's entire brand from the ground up. This wasn't a quick logo swap — it was a full transformation. We designed a new logo, product labels, brand kit, website, brochures, signage, window decals, car wraps, box design, and t-shirt design. You name it, we did it. The rebrand was so strong that April went on to win the Dan Gilbert Award after submitting a branding kit and business proposal we helped create. She was also featured on the Food Network and the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). We're good friends to this day.
